Dear CUBC Coxes and Captains,

My name is Sara and I am the X-Press Boat Club W1 captain. We are currently looking for coxes for our women’s squad, made up of around 20 rowers (though this number expands as the weather gets better!). If you're not familiar with X-Press, we're one of the smaller town clubs, focussing exclusively on adult rowing, and with active sweep and sculling programs. As a small club, we're also pretty sociable - with regular post-outing coffees and pub- types, and semi-regular club social events. The women's squad has a big mix of age ranges (early 20s to late 50s), nationalities and backgrounds, including quite a number of ex-college rowers.

Our W1 crew is third on the river in town Bumps, having moved up 8 places in the past 2 years. We are currently in training for WeHORR and are probably looking for a cox for that race – and beyond. Later in the year, we are hoping to take the crew to Women’s Henley as well as other off-Cam and International regattas, and of course to maintain or improve our place in town Bumps! Our W2 crew won blades in Bumps last year, and also compete regularly both on- and off-Cam. They may also enter a crew for WeHORR and are potentially looking at racing in the Masters National Championships later in the year. Both crews train on the water three times a week (evenings and weekends – so generally no early mornings and hopefully no clashes with uni teaching) so if you’re interested in coxing a competitive crew without the same level of commitment as college rowing, please do get in touch! We do have a number of regular coxes for both crews, but so if you can't commit to the full training regime, we'd still love to hear from you!

Shuold you require any other information, please get back to me.

Kind regards,

Sara

X-Press W1 captain
