Hi Everyone, welcome back from holiday!

Firstly, a massive thank you to Dave White for being our coxing rep last
year and all his efforts to make things run smoothly. I think I'm in for a
challenging year, but looking forward to it, if not slightly daunted by the
prospect.

As it is the start of the year, please take the time to familiarise
yourselves with the handbook on the CUCBC website, and especially the 10
Golden Rules. Remember, boats coming upstream have right of way! If you're
heading round one of the bends and things start to go pear-shaped, ensure
that you're not going to mow into something coming round the corner in the
other direction.

Can I also use this email to plug the upcoming Novice Coxes Talk. Please
start passing the word around to your new novices that a talk covering some
of the basics of coxing on the Cam will be held on the 14th October at 7pm
in the Lubbock Room at Peterhouse. (see map for details
http://www.pet.cam.ac.uk/help/maps/petmap.html)

The main focus of the talk is on Safety and so it is important that all
novice coxes attend.

Final thing - please also encourage your new coxes to sign up to the coxing
list, which can be done via http://www.cucbc.org/lists

Happy Coxing!

Mark
