***THIS E-MAIL CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL CREWS COMPETING IN THE
FAIRBAIRN CUP 2008***
(Please forward to all competitors within your club)

The final start order is now available online -
http://jcbc.jesus.cam.ac.uk/Fairbairns/start_order.php - if there are any
problems, it is important that you get in touch ASAP. Likewise, if you feel
you are significantly faster than the crew in front and will likely need to
overtake before Chesterton (THERE IS NO OVERTAKING BEFORE MEN'S TOP FINISH)
given a 30 second gap, let me know and I can leave a longer gap.

***IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL COMPETITORS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE INFORMATION
AVAILABLE AT http://jcbc.jesus.cam.ac.uk/Fairbairns/info.php***,
particularly the Marshalling Instructions and the Rules and Regulations. All
coxes should have read the Coxes' Notes available on that page.

The times shown for divisions are the START TIMES, not the marshalling
times. The first 10 crews in each division are to marshal 30 minutes before
the published start time, all others 20 minutes before. ***PLEASE DO NOT
ARRIVE LATE!*** All crews are expected to marshal and no crew may skip the
marshalling by pushing out from their hard without first having requested
permission from me. Permission will only be given if in pushing out to their
place in the queue they do not impede the rest of the circulation pattern.

THERE IS NO WARM-UP OR PRACTICE PADDLING ON THE WATER - all crews must warm
up on land. Crews should bring enough warm, dry kit to wear when marshalling
(particularly after racing).

Crews must not stop rowing on the finish line - wind it down and paddle
light. Stop, spin and pull in in the finish marshalling area when instructed
to do so by a marshal. Crews may not row home until the entire division has
finished racing and are instructed do so by the Senior Finish Marshal.
Results will not be available from the finish marshals - results will be
published online at the end of each day's racing (all results will be
available and prizes will be awarded at 17:00 on Friday 5th December at
Jesus Boathouse).

The crews racing in the last division of each day (that is the Novice VIIIs
Divison 2 and the Senior IVs) must have lights - these may be carried by the
bank party during the race, however they must be fitted to boats if rowing
home in the dark.

A representative from each club should collect ALL the race numbers for that
club from Jesus Boathouse (the control desk) before 08:30 on Thursday (clubs
not racing until Friday may collect their numbers on Friday). All the race
numbers for your club will be in a pack along with a copy of the start order
and safety pins. Space blankets for competitors may also be collected from
Jesus Boathouse (at any time).

During racing, marshals will be along the course wearing yellow bibs. Senior
umpires will wear red coats. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT MARSHALS' INSTRUCTIONS ARE
OBEYED AT ALL TIMES. Any queries or disputes should be directed to myself as
Chief Umpire at Jesus Boathouse.

If you have any queries, please get in touch...Sorry for the lengthy e-mail!

I'm looking forward to a good couple of days' racing - see you there!

Dan
