The flag is Green.

There are no restrictions on which crews may boat.

Outlook: Tomorrow morning's forecast looks pretty windy, but within green flag conditions.
A green flag is not licence to boat, all crews must assess if conditions are suitable for the competency of their crew.

Current forecast for Sunday looks Very Windy. Expect a yellow flag for much of, if not, all day.

Dear Captains and Coxes,
It has been two years since any form of Bumps has been run, and
institutional knowledge regarding safe racing has faded. Before every
series of Bumps races, a coxes' briefing is held, *which must be attended
by all coxes who wish to participate in Bumps. *
*The same is true this year: all coxes racing in Bumps must attend the
coxing briefing.* *Attendance will be taken during the meeting.*

Any cox found not attending the coxing briefing must explain their
absence to the CUCBC Senior Committee and risk being removed from the
Bumping Races.
Any cox who believes they have a genuine reason to miss the Coxes' briefing
must email Mark Jacobs, CUCBC Safety Advisor, mark at cucbc.org

In the past, there had been two sessions: one for novice coxes, one for
senior coxes. There will only be one this year, at *7:15pm Sunday 27th
February via MS Teams*

Dear Coxes,

>From the most recent captain's meeting, it was felt by all that it would be
a good idea to run an informal coxing meeting on how to race bumps and
races in general, kindly led by Isabel Nimmo (CUCBC coxing rep and very
seasoned town and college bumps cox).

The aim is to give you a chance to ask the questions about coxing races
which may have been unanswered so far, understand how some
bumps-experienced coxes approach bumps, and share any concerns and worries
in a safe, supportive space (and anonymously - I'll try and figure out how
to do that.)

*This is less about the safety aspects of bumps, which will be covered by
the mandatory coxes briefing next Sunday, and more about how to get the
best racing lines and how to get the most out of your rowers. A cox can
make or break a race by their calls, racing lines and split-second
decisions.*

Apologies the notice has come so late, unfortunately University work and
life has got the better of some of us (i.e. me) whilst volunteering to run
this.

Expect the flag to go red/yellow and then red over the course of the morning (including potentially before lighting down). After a quick introduction , we will be covering the following
-Preparing the crews before the day
-What to do on the day: on the row up and racing- practice starts, the
bung, racing the corners, the bump
-How to prepare for this in the final few outings before bumps.
-Q&A

A couple people have asked if we can record this meeting; as this meeting
is very 'ad-hoc', unstructured and will be heavily guided by Q&A from those
attending, it won't be recorded. You are welcome to ask us questions in
advance of the meeting, or have someone else come to the meeting with your
questions on coxing.

Being very aware that openly asking questions in a big meeting is daunting,
we will be using slido for anyone who wishes to ask questions anonymously,
which will then be read out.

The flag is Not Operational.

CUCBC does not set the flag status during vacations.

Outlook: Good luck to all crews racing in Pembroke Regatta tomorrow!
CUCBC do not set flags during races.

The flag is Green.

There are no restrictions on which crews may boat.

Outlook: Apologies for the confusion. The flag is set during events, but the race organisers have control of navigation and therefore they can choose which crews the conditions are appropriate for. In any event, the conditions tomorrow morning should be ok for green flag, with some slightly more challenging conditions in the afternoon.

The flag is Yellow.

Boating is restricted to University crews, first VIIIs and tub pairs. During Lent Term, any VIIIs in the first or second division of the Lent Bumps may boat. During Easter Term, any VIIIs in the first or second division of the May Bumps may boat. Members of crews permitted to boat under a Yellow Flag may do so in fours or small boats (i.e. single and double sculls and pairs) with the express permission of the Club Captain and/or Boatman.

Outlook: High winds.

Outlook: High gusts forecast for the whole of Sunday well into yellow flag territory.
Crews eligible to boat under yellow flag must always assess if an outing is safe and productive.

Current forecast for Monday morning looks to be a yellow flag also, with the gusts looking very not fun.

Outlook: Forecast for tomorrow looks bad with strong winds and even stronger gusts.
A strong yellow flag until 12pm, with a high liklihood of flag turning red in this time. Crews must assess if an outing is going to be practical, safe and productive-- for most crews it won't be.
The river is technically 'rowable', so not a red flag, but it won't be if conditions worsen.

The flag is Green.

There are no restrictions on which crews may boat.

Outlook: Forecast for tomorrow is good enough for a green flag, but still with moderate gusts so be careful and assess before you go out.
Please be nice to everyone else out in the morning, especially as it's been a while since there's been no restrictions- The river is likely to be very busy.
