From flag at cucbc.org Fri Nov 1 18:21:02 2019 From: flag at cucbc.org (flag at cucbc.org) Date: Fri, 01 Nov 2019 18:21:02 +0000 Subject: [CUCBC Coxes] Yellow Flag Message-ID: The flag is Yellow. Boating is restricted to University crews, first VIIIs, men's crews in the top 2 divisions of the May Bumps and women's crews in the top division of the May Bumps as well as first fours and tub pairs. Members of crews permitted to boat under a Yellow Flag may do so in fours or small boats (i.e. single and double sculls and pairs) with the express permission of the Club Captain and/or Boatman. Outlook: The forecast for tomorrow morning is very unpleasant. (40+ mph gusts... yay!) We will be checking the river earlier in the morning, and will update the flag before 11 as conditions develop, but our expectation if the flag to stay yellow into at least mid afternoon. 1st boats with less experienced rowers or coxes should consider whether they want to go out as well. Permission to boat is not the same as being required to. At no point should a crew boat with either a cox or coach who is unhappy with conditions, and pressure should never be applied to individuals who feel uncomfortable with the conditions. We are looking for extra coxes so please get in touch if you are interested. - As a town club we tend to have outings on weekday evenings usually 1830 - 2030 (which includes rowing in the dark during winter months), and weekend mornings between 0730 - 1200 all year round. So most of our outings don't clash with college outings. - We row from Clare Boat House and the CRA Boat House next to the Combined Colleges Boat House. - We have a range of mens and women's crews from juniors to masters categories, with races on and off the Cam, including Head of the River and Vesta Vets on the Tideway.
