There are no restrictions on which crews may boat. Outlook: Happy New Year and welcome back! The CUCBC Committee From flag at cucbc.org Wed Jan 16 20:16:02 2019 From: flag at cucbc.org (flag at cucbc.org) Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2019 20:16:02 +0000 Subject: [CUCBC Coxes] Yellow Flag Message-ID: The flag is Yellow. Boating is restricted to University crews, first VIIIs, men's crews in the top 2 divisions of the May Bumps and women's crews in the top division of the May Bumps as well as first fours and tub pairs. Members of crews permitted to boat under a Yellow Flag may do so in fours or small boats (i.e. single and double sculls and pairs) with the express permission of the Club Captain and/or Boatman. Outlook: Early warning to prompt crews to check the forecast and prepare appropriately - flag will be reassessed in the morning (and may well be green) but captains, coaches and coxes should seriously assess their crew's preparedness to be sat still on the river in significant winds, low temperatures and rain/sleet/snow. Meeting, we?re introducing the 15 minute rule, effective Monday 21st Jan (tomorrow): Only first eights may boat within the first 15 minutes after Lighting Down or after the allowed boating time on Saturdays and Sundays. All other crews may boat 15 minutes after Lighting Down. The additional Lent term restrictions still apply; crews pushing off in the first 15 minutes must row full crew, full slide to Chesterton footbridge, and not spin before Baitsbite Lock. They must also carry a white light visible through 180 degrees on the stern and the bows. Best wishes, Conor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There are no restrictions on which crews may boat. Outlook: The good news is the towpath is in much better shape and the visibility is excellent. The bad news is there???s still a lot of ice. There???s a navigable channel all the way to the Plough, then quite a lot of ice just upstream of Grassy, but if you can push through that it???s clear all the way to the lock. Some sections are not wide enough for two boats to pass, so use caution when passing! If it stays as it is, it???ll be yellow tomorrow to limit traffic. It???s quite possible it???ll refreeze overnight though, so may have to go back to red/yellow. The CUCBC Committee
