The start order includes the list of crews required to Get On. Any scratches should be directed to committee at cucbc.org such that we can update the start order and place crews back on. Similarly, if any crews need to switch to racing time only in the GoR, please also drop us an email. Umpiring is a great way to get involved in the racing and you get the chance to be right at the centre of the action - either by cycling along with the crews or acting as a static umpire along the course. As a 'thank you' for your time, all umpires are offered a *free dinner* (including drinks) at the Cambridge Blue pub, the week after bumps. Those who volunteer to umpire also count towards their college's marshal allocation. You don't need to have umpired before. There will be a meeting for all umpires ahead of racing where we explain everything and all new umpires are paired with a 'senior' one during racing. However, we do ask that you have rowed or coxed in *at least 2 sets of bumps before* so that you understand how the races work. Please remember that you can both compete and umpire. We suggest you leave 2 divisions clear before your race and 1 after to allow you to get to and from the boathouses. The division times are available here: http://www.cucbc.org/mays/times The umpires briefing will be during the weekend of the 4th / 5th June and should last about half an hour. The exact time and location will be confirmed nearer the time, and I?ll endeavour to distribute a first draft of the umpiring rota before the meeting. You can sign up here: *http://www.cucbc.org/mays/umpires/signup * If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at conor at cucbc.org Many thanks for helping to make the Bumps possible, and best of luck with exams and training, Conor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If your cox can't see that the river is clear for the entire duration of your overtake, they shouldn't be initiating one. The corners and the crossover points are not acceptable overtaking spots. - Crews heading upstream (i.e. towards the boathouses) have priority at the cross-over points. That being said, if there is a crew (or even a slow moving narrowboat) already coming through, you do not have the right to try and squeeze past them. Stop and wait. - No weekend rowing before 11am, even in small boats. Only CRA clubs and people training with University Squads may row before 11am on Saturdays and Sundays. - The evening men's and women's hours are still in place, and enforceable with fines. Crews which are not first boats (or in the first two divisions of the Mays - seewww.cucbc.org/bumps/startorder/16), may not row between the hours of 17:30 and 20:00 on weekdays. IVs may row over the lock during these hours, but only if the crew is comprised of people who could be out in an VIII. Please ensure this message reaches LBCs in particular. - Please keep Early Morning Noise to anabsolute minimum. Just because it is light, it doesn't mean you can wake up local residents, especially before 7:30am. - Crews rowing below Baitsbite lockmust not carry out standing startsbeside moored boats (particularly in Horningsea - the first set of houses you come to heading downstream). Please also be vigilant of the swans and cygnets around that area, and be prepared to stop a piece if necessary.Ideally, try to start piecesbelow the last moored boat(just downstream of that massive house), and remember you should not be racing through Clayhithe bridge or the marina.Wherever possible, coxes should attempt to reduce wash alongside moored boats and use their common sense on what is and isn't acceptable.Sparring is not permitted below the lock. Best wishes, and good luck with training, Conor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
