There are no restrictions on which crews may boat. Outlook: Please be aware that the towpath and roads around the river are dangerous due to the snow and likely to freeze further overnight. Coaches and crews should also be aware of the risk of hypothermia and avoid dropping people out or sitting stationary. Please also avoid exercises or warm-ups that will impede others and force them to drop crew members out. Small boats are also not advisable due to the freezing conditions. To that end please do not park in the spinning areas. Please spin and clear as quickly as possible. Yesterday crews were having to wait 10 minutes or more to proceed and were freezing in the meantime. Also please remember that boats must have lights if the visibility is poor. Remember that foggy conditions often worsen as the morning progresses and it is important for other crews to see you. Please also make sure all your club's lights have fresh batteries as there are a lot of useless, dim lights around. These are as bad as no lights at all. Boating is restricted to University crews, first VIIIs, men's crews in the top 2 divisions of the May Bumps and women's crews in the top division of the May Bumps as well as first fours and tub pairs. Members of crews permitted to boat under a Yellow Flag may do so in fours or small boats (i.e. single and double sculls and pairs) with the express permission of the Club Captain and/or Boatman. Outlook: Wind speeds have picked up, which in combination with the high river levels and stream make the conditions quite difficult to manage. The flag will be checked again in a few hours. The complainant intends to take the matter to the Environmental Health team of the Council should they continue to be disturbed. Please could you make sure that they are given no cause to do so. There should be no coaching from the bank prior to 7.30am above the Railway Bridge, nor should cox boxes be used to deliver coaching calls, only basic commands at minimal volume. Please remember there is a bylaw to prevent disturbance from amplified noise. The use of it would have serious consequences, so please don't tempt anyone to do so. Overly-loud music from boat houses has also been mentioned: please keep it turned down if erging early, especially if windows/doors open.
