The time of the getting-on race will be confirmed very soon, but it will take place in the evening of Friday 5th June, and competitors with exams finishing at 4.30pm that day should be able to make it. Evening hours will be altered on that day (again, details will be confirmed soon). *Division times* Division times are also available on the CUCBC website. Please note that the times for M6 and W5 (the "split division") have been brought forward by 5 minutes to reduce knock-on delays. If this causes problems for anyone, please contact committee[at]cucbc.org. Other division times are the same as ever (note two hours earlier on Saturday as always!). *Pre-Bumps meetings* These will take place on Sunday 7th June, in the Engineering Department (as for Lent Bumps). Times are provisionally the same as for Lents: 5.45pm - captains 6.30pm - umpires 7.15pm - senior coxes (have coxed Bumps previously) 7.45pm - novice coxes (haven't coxed Bumps before) All Bumps coxes *must attend* one of the two meetings (senior coxes can attend either if they want to). *Scratches* Please email committee[at]cucbc.org immediately if your boat needs to scratch, as this affects other crews and planning for the getting-on race. *Marshals' rota* This will be produced nearer to Bumps. It's your chance to have an input on how things run and try to fix the things that you don't like. Please give it some thought and email me if you have any questions. Manifestos should reach me by next Sunday. 2) Spinning points: You should only be spinning at three locations on the river; The Penny Ferry, the blue posts at the bottom of the reach, and at the lock. Spinning at any other point is dangerous, simply because at this point of term, there are going to be lots of crews doing full pressure pieces. If you are spinning in an unexpected location, expect an accident so please wait till you are in one of the spinning zones before you turn around. By dangerous places, I principally mean the corners (and I include the small bend just before the Penny Ferry), and also in the gut (where we simply need to keep traffic moving on). The caveat is of course that if you need to stop because there are other stationary crews ahead, then it is fine. However, don't keep sitting there for 5minutes while your coach gives you a debrief - move on as soon as it is safe, and find a suitable point to stop (ie on the reach, tucked right in and not disrupting spinning boats). A final point is to make sure that any traffic immediately behind you knows if you intend to stop where they might not expect (ie at the end of the reach). Especially coxless boats! If there is someone behind, hail them and tell them you intend to stop. Thanks, Mark CUCBC Coxing Rep -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
