Dear rowers,
The city council is holding a consultation about the mooring of boats on Riverside. Those of us who
have been here for ages will know that before 1998 Riverside road and Stourbridge Common were houseboat
free. Then someone emailed the rest of the country that Riverside was free for all as no authority
bothered to regulate mooring in Cambridge. This then led to the current situation where even
experienced rowing crews cannot pass one another in certain places on Riverside without clashing blades.
Please let them know your viewpoints on
http://www.cambridge.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/consultations/ or forward it to others that may wish to do
so. The city council is very keen on gathering viewpoints from all stakeholders such as residents as
well as from the rowing community. Deadline is the March 15.
Attached is a letter that was printed in the Cambridge News on March 4.
