With the Lent Bumps starting tomorrow, just a couple of reminders

· Know where you are starting. The start order is on the website
(http://www.cucbc.org/lents) and will be delivered to boathouses in the
morning.

· Make sure you boat and marshal on time! Division times are on the
website (http://www.cucbc.org/lents/times)

o The first division of the day (M4 or W3 on Friday) marshal 10 minutes
before, at the start.

o W3 and M3 (and W2 on Thursday) marshal on the Meadow Side of the Long
Reach, 45 minutes before the start.

o All other divisions marshal at Chesterton, 45 minutes before the start.

o If you are late marshalling, you may not be allowed to race!

o When doing practice starts on the way down, please only count down from
10 so as not to hold everyone up! Practice starts may be eliminated if we
are running late (but you can still do rolling starts).

· First Post Reach is not a litter bin (or a toilet)! Take your
rubbish with you in the boat (it’s not heavy enough to slow you down) and if
you need to relieve yourself, use the toilets at Baitsbite (or do it out of
sight of the public!)

· Hold the bung up high on the start so the umpires can see it.

· When you bump, HOLD IT UP! When you get bumped, KEEP ROWING! Do
not celebrate before clearing the river – it is DANGEROUS!

· Listen to and obey the Umpires and Marshals at all times.

· Bank parties are limited to 4 cyclists. This includes the boatman
and any VIPs.

· Keep it sporting! Bumps is meant to be fun! Abusive language or
behaviour towards the umpires or anyone else will not be tolerated. Also
please do not strip the bank of greenery entirely!

· College clubs are required to provide marshals as per the rota
(http://www.cucbc.org/lents/marshals) – please make sure your club provides
all their marshals and that they turn up on time.

The website contains a lot of information about the Lents
(http://www.cucbc.org/lents) including rules and where to watch from.
Results and notes & fines from the umpires will be published online and
e-mailed around after each day’s racing.

Remember that for official purposes, the crew on the first day is your
“crew” – any changes thereafter are substitutions and permission must be
sought from the CUCBC Executive Committee in advance. Please e-mail the
entire committee (committee at cucbc.org) with such requests to increase the
likelihood someone will pick it up.

During racing, any queries can be directed to the Control Desk at Peter’s
Posts (who will be able to refer them to the Chief Umpire).

If you are looking for somewhere to watch from, the Plough at Fen Ditton
(whose garden backs on to the river) will be serving food and drink all day.
CUR1350 will also be providing commentary (http://www.cur1350.co.uk/). We
will be selling Bumps Programmes for £2.50 at the Control Desk.

Good luck to all crews racing!

See you at the river
