He has received a number of complaints from members of the public regarding this. As you are aware, this is not our remit, but to keep everyone happy and the rowers’ reputations in good order, please could I kindly ask that cleaning of the boats is done in such a way that the soap used doesn’t end up in the river. The Environment Agency are aware of this, and I am sure that you don’t want to end up with an investigation on your hands with regard to a CAT 3 pollution incident (which they have identified this as being), enforcement action, possible fines, , costly drainage channel drainage installations and spill kits all over the place.
