Subject: Uni IVs - Entries Opening Soon
Dear all,

Our list is still playing up, so apologies if you’ve received this twice.
Entries for this year’s Uni IVs races are now open on the CUCBC website and will remain open until midday on Friday 13th Oct 2023.
Uni IVs is the first CUCBC race of the year and a great way to kick start your college’s campaign, Mitchell Cup points and CUCBC metals are at stake!
Racing will take place in the afternoons of Monday 23rd October to Friday 27th October starting around 2:30pm. Depending on entries, there may not be racing every day.

For those unfamiliar with Uni IVs, it runs as a timed competition<https://www.cucbc.org/handbook/racing/timed> for IVs along a 2km course from just downstream of the A14 bridge to just downstream of the railway bridge. Two crews race at the same time, starting 120m apart, chasing each other up the river to their respective finish posts, also 120m apart. Overtaking is permitted on the long reach only. The faster of the two crews progresses onto the next heat.

Further information regarding the regulations of Uni IVs, including eligibility and divisional information can be found here<https://www.cucbc.org/handbook/racing/uni_fours>. The division for coxless IVs may not run if we do not get sufficient entries. As a reminder, Rule 14a: “Coxless IVs and quadruple sculls require a banksteerer at all times, inside and outside Full Term”
Lastly, any club which enters the Uni IVs regatta will be required to supply marshals to help with the running of the event. Your marshalling slots may not be on the same day your club is racing. The marshalling timetable will be published once entries close. Marshals are compulsory and essential to the safe running of the races; any club which fails to provide their allocated marshal(s) may be disqualified from the event.

If you have any questions, please drop us an email at committee at cucbc.org<mailto:committee at cucbc.org>. This is always the best way to reach us, rather than emailing specific committee members.

Very best wishes,
David
