There is to be no coaching nor unnecessary noise from cox, crew nor bank party before 0730 above the railway bridge. This applies to crews rowing home before 0730 also, and those doing reach runs, where coaching must stop above the railway bridge. If there is any crew requiring consistent coaching/cox calls from the point of pushing off, they must only boat from 0730 onwards. The river is shared between rowers and residents and this is the agreement to keep the peace. There is a threat to college rowing if sufficient complaints are received to the council regarding antisocial noise, and the council reserves the right to ban college rowing- something we don't want! ----- CUCBC Executive Committee On Behalf of Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Best, Felix ----------------------------- Dear all, This email contains information about upcoming weekly sessions and the Summer Camp. Weekly Sessions Please see below the sign up sheet for the upcoming Dev Squad sessions for this term! The sessions will remain technique based with the exception of the first session where we will be doing a flat out 3 minute piece. These sessions are open to all. Please feel free to share the link with anyone else who you think may be interested in attending these sessions. There will not be a session on the week of Bumps. The last of the weekly sessions will be on the 22nd June. This term the sign up sheet will be updated weekly (each Friday) so you will not be able to sign up more than a week in advance to a session. You can come every week, or just as many as you like. But please only sign up for a maximum of one session per week. If you are unwell please do not come to the session and please do let me know so I can offer your spot to someone else. I take note of who has signed up the day before the session and will cancel a session if less than 4 people have signed up. If the sessions are full or these times don't work for you but you are interested in Dev Squad please do get in contact with me. Summer Camp This year?s women?s Dev Squad Summer Camp will be taking place between the 5th-16th July. Next week I will send out the full details for the camp, including cost and preliminary training schedule. This camp is invitation only, with invitations being dependent on a variety of factors (e.g. your most recent 2K score or coxing recording, as well as a genuine intention to trial in September). I will attach an ?expression of interest form? to the info email next week which you will need to fill out should you want to be considered for an invitation. A deadline for filling this out will also be confirmed within the email. The camp will require you to sort out your own accommodation for that period which is something to have in mind when considering if you would like to put yourself forward. We are happy to announce that entries for May Bumps are now Open, the Entry Deadline is Sunday 28th May 2023 - 22:00. The cost of entry is ?50 per boat. Those that row the GoR but fail to get on will have that reduced to ?25. Please carefully read the eligibility rules for Bumps (General | CUCBC and Lent and May Races | CUCBC ). For example: - Those with 1st boat colours may not row/steer any lower than the third division/third boat, whichever is lower (NB: those who have rowed and coxed are considered separately for rowing and coxing). - Those with University colours (including reserves) may not row/steer lower than the third boat. Also please recall that all crews wishing to enter Bumps *must* have completed 12 outings of 60 minutes or longer by the first day of Bumps (outings on weekdays after 9am count as 1.5). We will be asking for 12-outing declarations in due course. The pre-Bumps briefings will take place on the evening of Sunday 11th June, location TBC. Please make sure all coxes - in particular those coxes that have not rowed Bumps before - keep this evening available, else they will not be allowed to compete. Those which have rowed Bumps before may send a competent representative in their stead if they are unavailable. Felix ???????? Hi all, Please see below the up-to-date info on this year's CUBC Women's Dev Squad Summer Camp which will be taking place from the 5th to the 16th July. The Summer Camp aims to mirror the CUBC Women's programme as much as possible, including training timings and the types of sessions we will do. Within the programme there will be education sessions, such as Q&As with current and previous athletes, nutrition, S&C and more exciting learning opportunities to be confirmed. We will also be racing at Molesey Regatta on the 15th July which will be a great opportunity to put all you have learned into action at a really fun event! If you are unable to commit to training over these dates it will not affect your ability to trial come September. Participating in Dev Squad summer camp is an opportunity to develop your rowing ability and racing experience. It will also help you to work out if a full programme such as this works for you as an individual outside of the pressures of school and trialling. This will no doubt be useful come September but is by no means compulsory in order to trial. This camp is invitation only, if you would like to be considered for an invitation you will need to have filled out the attached 'Expression of interest form' below by the 30th May. For coxes - as well as filling out the form please also email me 2x 1 minute clips of your coxing (one from a race piece and one from paddling) in order to be considered. I have attached a provisional training schedule. The total cost for camp will be less than ?180 (this was last year's cost and this camp will be slightly shorter). The official cost is TBC (as I am awaiting some cost confirmations on the education sessions). I will provide this information as soon as I have it confirmed. This cost covers: - Transport (to and from Ely and the race in Molesey) - S&C (Coaching and programming) - Rowing & Coxing Coaching (on the water and on land) - Educational sessions - Entry Fee for Molesey Regatta - Dev Squad 2023 T-Shirt We do not provide accommodation so this is something you would need to be able to sort for yourself for the camp period. Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me. This is only the fourth set of Bumps since the pandemic saw the races cancelled, so we still require a large proportion of those around with two more sets of Bumps under their belts to help out and umpire, so please do encourage members of your Clubs to sign up - especially if they're not rowing in the top four divisions. *Some carrots:* - Umpiring is a great way to get involved in the racing and you get the chance to be right at the centre of the action - either by cycling along with the crews or acting as a static umpire along the course - As a 'thank you' for your time, all umpires are offered a *free dinner* (including drinks) at a pub the week after Bumps. - Each Club will have a certain allocation of marshalling to ensure the safe and smooth running of the Bumps. Everyone who volunteers for umpiring by Monday 5 June will count towards this marshal allocation. Trust me: umpiring is a lot more fun than marshalling. You don't need to have umpired before to sign up. There will be a briefing on the evening of Sunday 11 June for all umpires ahead of racing where we explain everything and all new umpires are paired with a 'senior' one during racing. However, we do ask that you have *rowed or coxed in at least 2 sets of bumps (Lents, Mays, or Towns)* before so that you understand how the races work. Please remember that you can both compete and umpire. We suggest you leave *two divisions clear before* your race and *one after* to allow you to get to and from the boathouses. The division times are available here: https://www.cucbc.org/mays/times The umpires briefing will be in the early evening of Sunday 11 June - 18:15 in the Main Lecture Theatre, St John's College - and last about 45 minutes, and I?ll endeavour to distribute a first draft of the umpiring rota before the meeting. You can sign up here: http://www.cucbc.org/mays/umpires/signup If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at lukebarratt at cucbc.org - I will be sorting out the umpires rota etc for this set of Bumps.
