Champion of the Thames RC will be running Champs Eights Head on Sunday 15
May 2022 with racing on a 1450m course upstream from the Plough to the site
of the former Penny Ferry pub.

Divisions are:
Division 1: 12:00
Division 2: 13:30
Division 3: 15:00

Entries can be made through this entries webform

Dear Conor thank you for the introduction to the captains group,

Captains, I work with team at University Arms and Parker?s Tavern, Cambridge. We would love to explore hosting a celebratory event on Saturday 18th June to mark the final day of the May bumps. The idea would be for them to have a presence during the day which would allow for them to invite hotel guests as well as influencers and press contacts to enjoy the races at one of the clubs.

The team, led by chef Tristan Welch, are very open to suggestions of what might work best ? and have organised many local external events since they opened in 2018. Would any of you be interested in partnering for this? We would of course ensure that all logistical details and any financial considerations are taken care of in agreement with yourselves.

We think this is a great opportunity to potentially work together, and hopefully a partnership which can extend beyond the June races.

Do you mean during the day, or in the evening? Most of the boat clubs hold a dinner in their colleges after the races on the Saturday of May Bumps, so I doubt you?d get much traction on an event after racing has ended. If you?re looking to hold an event during the day, you can email captains at lists.cucbc.org to reach the boat club Captains and put your proposal to them.

Cambridge '99 Rowing Club will be hosting their annual Spring Regatta on
Sunday 22nd May 2022.
We will be hosting the usual 8s races again this year.

This 1000 m side-by-side race up the Long Reach is an enjoyable day of
racing for all crews.

It is a fantastic way to nail those starts in advance of the regatta
season and for college crews
it is the perfect way to get some experience racing.

Novices are welcome. If you have some very novice crews (e.g. started
rowing in Lents)
please let us know, and if there is sufficient competition, we will
run a shorter-race for them.Depending on the weather, entries and
quality of the novice crews, we may move the start,
making it safer and shorter for competitors.  Crew contacts will be
informed closer to the time about this.

ENTRIES are open now and close May 16th@ 4pm.  More details about the

Please be aware that the swans on Plough Reach are now out and about with their newly hatched cygnets, which are very small. Please remind all of your coxes, steerspeople, bank parties and coaches to be aware of this and ensure we avoid any collisions. Outside of official races, doing a race piece / sparring is not an acceptable excuse to row through a family of swans.

 ALL CUCBC clubs and Captains,

We are hosting the Cambridge Spring Regatta on Sunday.  It's a record entry
and it will be a full day of racing from 10AM  to 7:30 PM.
If you would like a row through between 10am and 7pm please email us on
regatta at cambridge99.org and let us know what time you would like to be at
Green Dragon and also at the Plough Pub (on return).  We will then suggest
timings based on the timings of the 11 divisions we have racing. We will
also notify marshals so they can get you to the front of the cue, and
minimise your waiting time.

Also, just prior to the event, say from about 8:00, a sculler and support
bank party will be laying buoys under the railway bridge.  Because this is,
by definition, in the middle of the river, the sculler may not be on the
correct side of the river.  Please be vigilant in this area. There will be
marshals there to support him, so you will be notified from the bank as
needed. They are planning on laying 8 buoys.

We?ll announce the crews required to compete in the Getting-On Race shortly after the close of entries.

CUCBC bills will also be issued to include your entry fees - the payment deadline will be announced when the bills are issued. Unfortunately rising costs (mostly the cost of black powder for the cannons) means we have had to increase the entry fee to ?50 per crew.

   - Complimentary racing photos.

Dear Captains,

To add to Conor's reminder to get Mays entries in, we are
currently planning to run three divisions for the getting on race. Unless
something terribly unexpected happens, we are *planning *for these to be at
4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm on the 10th June. By my eye, this means at least
one division should be after all the scheduled exams.

Once entries close and we know the specific number of crews having to
compete in the GoR, you will have the chance to change divisions. We won't
have any other information until this time, I'm afraid, as we won't know
ourselves.

Hi Captains!

Just a reminder that you still have a few more days to enter the X-Press Head Race, which we are running?this Saturday 4 June?(divisions?from 12pm).
It is the last big practice head race before bumps, and a chance to row the bumps course uninterrupted.
