Dear Captains,
In the past few days we've noticed the following and have the following
announcements:

*Novice coxes and novice LBCs meeting/forum this Sun 7pm - notify novices
coxes and LBCs please:*
We shall be conducting a virtual novice coxes and novice LBC meeting/forum,
*this Sunday at 7pm*. Apologies for the short notice, it is the first time
that a couple of the Exec committee are free and able to run this session.
For clarity, this is aimed at novice coxes, though novice LBCs are more
than welcome to attend also.
Please be on the lookout for a joining link via email and please circulate
to your novice coxes and LBCs.
*What is this meeting*? A basic introduction and further information for
novice coxes and LBCs to help support and clarify coxing points and help
LBCs in supporting novice coxes during their development. It is not
intended for senior coxes or senior coaches.

*Lights*:
A further reminder that lights need to be on the boats (not on the back of
people's heads), bright enough (please check your batteries!), and affixed
on the bow and stern not on the riggers. Whenever there is poor visibility,
you should be using lights. You definitely should use them where there is
fog.

There have been complaints by other river members regarding this.
Especially when there is fog, lights are essential to ensure other river
users know you are there, so that there are no incidents or injuries.

*EMMs:*
The quality of EMMs provided has been variable with some not turning up and
several who do not seem to have sufficient competency. This is also a
blanket reminder for any EMMs this week who have not submitted their
reports yet, as these will be reviewed.

Please ensure you send a competent (i.e. experienced senior) member of your
club to the EMM duty, and ensure they read the rules and instructions. This
is of benefit for your other captains and for us to objectively assess what
is happening on the river in regards to safety and numbers.

*Uni IVs*:
We are not doing row-throughs for crews, however the river control does not
include the P&E so you can spin any crews there if you wish. Please be
respectful of any IVs who are cutting it fine rowing down for marshalling.

*Traffic:*
We know the river is getting busier, we are assessing traffic and will
introduce measures once numbers are persistently increased to similar
numbers when rules were introduced in MT 2017/18/19.

All best,
Lee
