Dear all,

Please find below the details of First and Third’s Lent Term races, the Talbott Cup and STCS. If you have any questions about either of the events, please don’t hesitate to contact me (secretary at firstandthird.org <mailto:secretary at firstandthird.org>).

Entries for both events are limited—sign up before it’s too late!

The Talbott Cup (Lower Boats Regatta)

Entries for the Talbott Cup, First and Third’s Lent Term Lower Boats Regatta, are now open. Entries close at 23:59 Tuesday 5th March.

The Talbott Cup was created six years ago to provide increased racing opportunity for lower boats, which are often disadvantaged by the Pembroke Regatta categorisation system and the lower number of Bumps divisions in Lents. After the success of last year’s event, the race will be run on Tuesday 12th March, from 14:00. Entries are open to boats no higher than M3s/W2s, although exceptional entries (M2s of predominantly ex-novices) may be permitted on a case-by-case basis. The regatta is, however, intended for lower boats’ rowers and, as such, we ask that no rower enter who has competed in any Bumps in an M1, M2, or W1.

The race will be run in a similar style to Pembroke Regatta, with divisions for W2, M3, W3, and M3. Tankards will be awarded to crews winning any event with at least four entries, with t-shirt going to the winners of the highest divisions on both sides. Entry is £50 per crew.

Second Trinity Challenge Sculls (STCS)

First and Third Trinity Boat Club will be running Second Trinity Challenge Sculls (STCS) on Tuesday 12th March from 14:00. Entries are now open, and will close at 23:59 Tuesday 5th March.

The event is a 2600 m upstream head race from Little Bridge to Peter’s Posts and will consist of a single division. The categories are:

M1x (fine), M1x (restricted), W1x (fine), W1x (restricted), M2x, W2x, Mixed 2x, M2-, W2-.

Restricted class singles are the wider, more stable sort of boats one would expected to see novices and beginner scullers using. If you are in any doubt, please do get in touch and we can clarify for you. Tankards will be presented to the winners of events with three or more entries. Entry is £8 per seat.
