Dear Captains,

There is an exciting talk and demonstration event held at the Cambridge
Rowing Tank on the physics of rowing and optimisation. The event will be
free for all to attend (first come first served). Further details are
below, please distribute to all those who might be interested and have a
look at our FB event:

Date: 22nd April
Time: 11.00 - 12.00
Location: CRT, Downing College Boathouse
Event Details: "How to use the rowing tank to optimise rowing effiency"

https://www.facebook.com/events/1798942390400744/

"We are delighted to invite you to a discussion with Jim Dreher, founder
and owner of the Durham Boat Company, who supplied the Cambridge Rowing
Tank to Downing. Jim was a successful rower and mechanical engineer who
has over 30 years experience building tanks and other rowing equipment
as well as coaching rowing at a senior level. Jim will be joined by
Coleen Fuerst who is the President of Durham Boat Company and a former
US national champion rower. Coleen is also an engineer and rowing
coach."

Jim will focus on the potential of the indoor rowing tank as both a
learning tool to optimize rowing efficiency and also as a "lab" to learn
basic Physics mechanics principles related to both rowing and STEM
education. We will have a force measurement analytics system from Peach
Innovations installed to allow the theory to be translated into a
practical demonstration. Paul Haines who developed the Peach system will
be on hand to participate in the discussion.

So much of our rowing knowledge is still theoretical. We attach a note
from Jim that spells out his understanding of the relationship between
physics and rowing. He would welcome feedback at the discussion.
