The draw and race timetable are now available here: http://www.cucbc.org/uni_fours All competing clubs are required to provide marshals, the rota for which is attached. Failure to provide your allocated marshals will result in your club not being allowed to compete, as marshals are essential to the safe running of the event. Marshals should be senior rowers or coxes, and will need a bike. They should meet at the Railway Bridge at the start of their slot. Substitutes, providing they would have been eligible crew members before entries closed, will still be accepted until 17:00 on Monday 23rd Oct (by emailing committee at cucbc.org ). After that point, crews will be fixed, and substitutes will only be accepted in a case of accident, injury or illness. Race times can be moved, but only within the windows where racing will be happening. In the interest of fairness, one semi-final can not be moved from Friday unless the other one is too. You must get agreement from both clubs (or all clubs in the case of semi-finals), and email committee at cucbc.org with the new time, CCing in a representative of each crew. If it helps, swapping within a division is fine (if, say, you need to get back quickly, you could swap to be the first race in a division), but please check with your competitors and the crews in the race you want to swap with, and then email us. Any queries on the above, please reply to this email. Best wishes, Conor -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We encourage you to sell the T-shirts for ?6 so that your club makes ?1 per T-shirt sold, a great opportunity for the boatclubs to make a little bit of money. We also strongly suggest that you encourage non boaties to come on the bar crawl as it is sure to be a great night out. The T-shirts will be arriving tomorrow (17th October) and we can deliver them to you as soon as you have ordered them. Most clubs order about 50 T-shirts. We would like to have all of the orders done by the end Thursday 19th October to give you as much time to sell the T-shirts as possible. Once you have ordered your T-shirts we will try to get them to you as quickly as possible. 1 T-shirt will entitle the wearer to: ?1 shots at Revs, ?1 off all drinks at the Maypole, Happy Hour all night at Ta Bouche and more! Please forward to LBCs and novice coxes as appropriate. 1. Senior crews on their way downstream shortly after lighting down should be wary and prepared to meet Town Crews returning upstream. You must remain on the correct side of the river at all times. 2. No novice crews may be on the water before 07:30, or within 15 minutes of lighting down, whichever is later (so please take note on Thursday and Friday morning this week). For the purposes of this rule, you should interpret a novice crew as as one requiring assistance from the bank to proceed safely and without interruption to at least the Railway Bridge, or as any crew with more than three novices. If placing a novice cox with a senior crew, they must be able to cox the boat the the Railway Bridge safely with only pointers from the stroke seat. 3. No bank coaching before 07:30 anywhere upstream of the Railway Bridge. Please also be aware of other river users and keep noise outside the boathouses and from cox-boxes to a minimum before 07:30. 4. White lights should be displayed clearly on both the bows and stern if your boat will be on the water within the 15 minutes after lighting down or the 15 minutes prior to lighting up. 5. Lighting down is the time you can push off, NOT the time you can row past one of our EMMs. Anyone caught willfully abusing this rule will be fined heavily, and issued training bans for repeat offences. 6. A queue of boats waiting to return to the boat houses is NOT fair game for overtaking. Everything will flow much more smoothly when you join the queue. Entries are now open until 12th November. The entry form and all additional information are available here: http://ebc.soc.srcf.net/sprints/ Get keen as this is the first race of the Novice calendar and a great introduction to racing. Racing this year will be as last year, with every crew having at least two races. We anticipate a good turnout and with the standard fancy dress, mince pies, and exciting racing, this event is not to be missed! Division winners will receive free tickets to Emma cocktails. I'll be uploading the draw on the website as soon as possible after the deadline, along with live results as the event unfolds. Standard safety rules apply: heel restraints in place, life jackets for coxes, and correctly fitted bow balls, and we reserve the right to turn away any crew we deem 'unsafe' with no refund of entry fee. Tickets are now on sale for Emma Cocktails that takes place on the evening of Sunday 19th. It's a great way for competitors to relax after a hard day of racing, and a good way for senior rowers to get to know (and hopefully celebrate the victories of) their novice crews. Message-ID: Hi there, I rowed with Trinity Hall Boat Club between 98 and 2001, and am now a member of Warrington Rowing Club - which is a successful club run by very dedicated volunteers. WRC's only eight is a bit long in the tooth and basically bit the dust earlier this year, and so the club is now on the look out for a good second-hand racing eight (suitable for rowers up to and including heavyweight men). Do you happen to know if any Cambridge college clubs have any excess eights that they are looking to sell, please? WRC can arrange transport, of course. Thanks very much! Paul Connor. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
