Please see the website for division times and payment details (inc. bank details). http://jcbc.jesus.cam.ac.uk/old/fairbairns/ The coxes meeting will be directly after the Clare Novices' Regatta Coxes' meeting on Sunday 19th November at 19:30 in the Riley Auditorium, Clare College. Please make sure all novice coxes attend this meeting if they are coxing Fairbairns. There are a number of Oxford colleges entering Fairbairns this year. Jesus are able to host one club but unfortunately we do not have the space do accommodate any more. If you have space to host a club (maximum 2 crews) and allow them to boat from your boathouse please contact me and I can forward your details to the relevant clubs. We'd be very grateful for your help. Feel free to contact me with any further enquiries. There is a sheet for each division in the spreadsheet, please look carefully at the position of your crews and the crews around them. The order is based on the results of last year, and then alphabetically for crews who did not race last year. **INVITATIONAL CREWS** You will notice that the Men's Invitational VIIIs are split between Division 1 and 2. We have had an unprecedented number of entries in this category so unfortunately we have to run them over two divisions. Therefore, this will be the only event where crews can compete over two divisions. I apologise for this, however we have to follow certain health and safety regulations and are limited by time and space constraints, it is therefore unavoidable. Crews will be sent off at 30 second intervals unless requested otherwise. It is important that you consider the times of the crew ahead of you because there will be no time bonuses allocated for impeded crews (to abide with BR regulations). In order to avoid any impedence we will be much more flexible in the start order. If you can provide evidence - roughly >30s difference over 1.5/2km (after the Green dragon bridge you can overtake)- then I will move you up the start order. Otherwise, please request a suitable time gap between the two crews. Use the following google doc to request changes: https://goo.gl/forms/OJBP1cENFHKxhUgy1 Please forward this within your club to Crew captains/LBCs/Coaches so that they can assess the order. You have until Friday at 5pm to request any changes. COXES: The coxes notes are attached with marshalling information, the top 10 crews in each division must marshal 30 minutes before the start and the rest 20 minutes before. Senior coxes please make sure you have properly briefed the novice coxes in your club on the course, especially taking the corner under green dragon bridge. Attach the numbers with 4 safety pins. You and your bow person should have the number visible at all times during marshalling and the race (No ponytails/hoods etc. concealing numbers please). ALL: Make sure you and your crews have lots of layers, it is going to be very cold and potentially windy, more so on Thursday. Those at the start of the division will be waiting for over an hour at the finish line. Race numbers will be at Jesus Boat House, please come up to the balcony to collect them. Check to see if your alumni crews have a separate pack. If you are going for a pre-paddle, please clear the river by 08:30 to allow space for crews marshaling. Also attached is the Event Safety Plan, this contains information of where marshals will be positioned on the day of the races if you require any assistance. St. John Ambulance will be covering the event on both days. Finally, captains - if your boathouse is between Jesus BH and Jesus Lock then I will assume your crews are pushing off from the boathouse - let me know if this is not the case. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me, I will be at Jesus Boathouse all day during the races (apart from the senior women's division) if there are any issues on the day. Could you all please enquire with your crews to see if they were involved and report back if they were? They won't be in serious trouble, but the owners would very much appreciate an apology. If repairs are required, that's why we insist your clubs all have third party liability insurance - your crews, coxes and coaches shouldn't be shying away from owning up to damage for fear of the consequences. Damage to the paintwork of narrow boats can lead to much more serious damage and much more expense if left untreated, and as this damage is on the river side of the boat, it isn't seen by the owners as often, so we're not quite sure how recently this occurred. That more serious damage can be avoided by reporting paint damage promptly and honestly. If in doubt about who to contact, you can email committee at cucbc.org (CCed here).
