Hopefully your novices are enjoying the start of term, and you?ve not gone insane from last-minute sub requests and people not turning up.
Just a reminder to get your entries for CNR in. Entries close at midnight on the 13th of November, and late entries will have to pay an inreased entry fee.

The deadline for Queens? Ergs entries and payment has been extended to 
23:59 on *Saturday 5th November*. The names of crew members entered may 
be changed at any point until 23:59 on Sunday 6th November.

Rules, details and sign-up can all be found on the QErgs website:

Provisional division times will be released on the website on *Sunday 
6th November*.

Please ensure you get all crew members to sign the terms of racing 
before the event and bring this with them to crew registration. This 
will help with the smooth running of the night. Crews will not able to 
race unless this form has been completed by each crew member.

If your crews have timing restrictions, then please get in contact with 
us and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Hi,

My name is Vitaliy and I am from the LSE rowing club committee.
Our club is very much interested in racing the Cambridge Winter Head
organised by Cantabrigian RC, however, sine we are a relatively small club,
we do not own a trailer to get our boats from London to Cambridge, and
sharing one with other London clubs seems not to work out this year.

Would it be anyhow possible to rent out an 8 and a 4 boat from any of the
colleges clubs just for the race? I understand that this is quite an
unusual question, however we are currently having trouble to find a trailer
for our boats, so wanted to ask if you could help by any chance? Obviously
we would pay for the boats/oars rent. I would really appreciate if you
could forwarded this request to the colleges clubs committees.

One of my roles as the Assistant Coach is Development. Development for CUWBC is working with your colleges to find athletes and prepare them for trialling and for a chance to represent Cambridge in the annual Boat Races against Oxford.

The form for sprints entries has closed early due to the event now being
over subscribed.

The river will be partially closed for all the hours college boats are
allowed to row on Sunday 13th. Crews wishing to train over Baits Bite lock
may row through the regatta when a marshal deems it *safe and convenient*
to do so.

To avoid unnecessary waiting at either end of the course please could crews
requiring passage through the course fill out this google form which
describes specific slots when passage will be possible. Please pay special

Hi All,

Clare Novices? Regatta will be taking place this year from 24th November to 26th November. Officially the river is closed to college crews downstream of the Green Dragon bridge. 
Since this is the week before Fairbairns we want to minimise disruption to your training as much as possible, so will be allowing crews who wish to train below Grassy or below Baitsite to row through between divisions. If you?re hoping to book a row through, please get in touch (claregatta at gmail.com <mailto:claregatta at gmail.com>).

On Thursday 24th and Friday 25th, the river is closed from 13:30-16:30. There?ll be the opportunity to row through whilst divisions marshal at 13:40, 14:15, and 15:00.

On Saturday 26th, the river is closed from 8am-4pm, row throughs available at 11:50, 12:40, 13:30 and 14:30. 

It will be possible to row back between races, so hopefully won?t hold you back too much. These times are provisional currently and dependent on the number of entries.

There is no need to request a row-through for any training above Chesterton (novice singles, tub pairs) however, please be aware of the novice traffic heading downstream.

Keep getting your entries in! The deadline is this Sunday. If you?re not sure about your crews yet, get your entries in before the deadline and we can sort out substitutions afterwards.

Dear all,

Following a few queries, we would like to clarify that only crews racing in
Emma Sprints and Clare Novices will be allowed to boat before 11am on the
weekend race days (this coming Sunday 13th and Saturday 26th). The
navigation restrictions imposed by those races only apply between
Chesterton (Green Dragon) footbridge and Baitsbite lock, and the normal
Conservancy and CUCBC rules still apply to the rest of the river.

We are not in a position where we can relax the 11am restriction for races
without consulting the other river users, and in particular the CRA - the
town clubs will still be expecting to have the river to themselves before
11am, excepting race crews.

For these reasons, row throughs before 11am are not available to college
crews.

Thanks for your entries to CNR 2016. 
With the number of entries this year we?ve had to move a few divisions around and now racing will only take place on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November. The draw and timetable are on the website (http://www.clareboatclub.org.uk/cnr.php?page=draw <http://www.clareboatclub.org.uk/cnr.php?page=draw>), please have a good look through and make sure you understand when you?re racing. If there?s any problems or mistakes get in touch and I?ll do my best to fix them.

Most crews have paid on time, but if you?ve not can you get it sorted asap.

The coxes meeting will be on Sunday 20th November, at 19:30. The meeting is in the Riley Auditorium at Clare, Memorial Court. I?ll sort out some signs, but if you get lost just ask the porters for directions. The meeting will be followed by the Fairbairns coxes meeting. All competing coxes should attend, along with a senior representative from their Boat Club. 

Senior crews wanting outings Friday 2-4pm or anytime Saturday, please get in touch to organise a row-through.

Hopefully the last email from me! Just a couple reminders about CNR.

1. The coxes meeting is tomorrow, Sunday 20th November, at 19:30. The meeting is in the Riley Auditorium at Clare, Memorial Court. All competing coxes should attend, along with a senior representative from their Boat Club.

2. Senior crews wanting outings Friday (25th) 2-4pm or anytime Saturday (26th), please get in touch to organise a row-through. On Friday there?s the opportunity to row through before racing at 13:30, 14:30, 15:20 or after racing finishes at 4pm. On Saturday the times available are: 11:50, 12:50, 13:50, 14:50 and after racing finishes at 15:40. 
All times are at Chesterton, please don?t be late, if racing has started we won?t be able to let you through until the end of the next division. If it?s looking like there?s too many crews wanting to row through at a certain time, row through slots will be given to those who asked first, so get in touch as soon as you?ve got outings planned.

Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs

As you may have seen in the recent Rowing & Regatta magazine Hudson Boats
now has a repair centre based in Reading. We offer repairs and servicing to
all types and makes of boats in a modern highly professional workshop.

We would like to offer a special service to the Cambridge University
Combined Boat Clubs after the Lent and May bumps races. We know that there
are often boats damaged during these competitions that have temporary
repair jobs that then need a proper, more detailed repair afterwards.

We would like to arrange our Hudson trailer to come to Cambridge in the
week after the events and do a group pick up of any boats that the Boat
Clubs would like to send for a repair service. Once repairs are completed
we will return with the trailer to Cambridge for a drop off.

This will save your students time and the convenience of arranging towing,
as well as providing them with a top class repair service to keep their
fleets in the best possible condition.

If there is interest in this offer, please let me know and we can discuss
in more detail as we get closer to the evenst.

The email below from the Fairbairns Secretary is slightly unclear as to the strict requirements for outing timing. For sake of clarity, please note the following:

1. There are no special restrictions on which crews may boat in the early morning slot.
2. The Fairbairns river closure should be taken to act at the stated earliest marshalling time on each day (i.e. 8.45 on Thursday and 9.00 on Friday). 
3. Any boats on the water at this time, which are not marshalling for the race, may be subject to whatever sanctions the race organisers have at their disposal as recorded in their rules of racing. 
4. JCBC would appreciate it if crews were off the water a little before the mandated closure period.

I trust that this is clear, though please let me know if you have any queries about early morning boating on race days.

Hi all,

CUCBC feel that it is only fair that I make things more clear.

I would appreciate it if you could be off the water by 8:30.
However, if you are not off by 8:45 on Thursday and 9:00 on Friday (the 
start of marshalling) then you will be treated as if you are warming up 
on the water and will be subject to the sanctions as outlined in the 
rules.

Recently nearly all of our cox box chargers have been broken leaving
us with only a couple left. With Fairbairns this week we'll need to
use multiple cox boxes simultaneously and we don't really want novice
coxes suddenly losing power half way down the course!

days? We can reward in yummy festive treats :)

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for your patience at the weekend with row throughs during CNR, hope your Fairbairns training is going well.

Dear all,

The provisional draw for Saturday's race is attached.  Please let me know
ASAP if you have any boat sharing or rower doubling up conflicts.  I will
do my best to accommodate everything.

I tried to honor division requests as much as possible.  However, Division
1 was very oversubscribed so I have had to move some things around.

Numbers will be assigned and posted later this week.
