Dear Captains,

With the GoR on Friday, a reminder that you must inform us of any scratches
or changes to Time Only for crews unable to meet the 12 outing requirement
(see Mark's email).

The deadline for scratching completely for a full refund is Wednesday 5PM
(TODAY!)
The deadline for scratching completely for a half refund is Thursday 5PM
If you are racing for time only, you are eligible for a half refund so long
as you tell us by Thursday 5PM.

The deadline for Bumps Programme pre-orders is 5pm on Friday 3rd June. Any
programmes ordered after this time will be charged at the cover price of
?3.50.

We are still short of about 30 umpires to enable the Mays to go ahead. In
particular, we are short of Umpires for *M3, W2, M2, W1, and M1*. I would
like to produce the Umpires' Rota this weekend, so please encourage anyone
and everyone who can do those divisions to sign up by *10pm on Friday 3rd
June*!

As a 'thank you' for your time, all umpires are offered a *free
dinner* (including
drinks) at the Cambridge Blue pub, the week after bumps. Those who
volunteer to umpire also count towards their college's marshal allocation.

You don't need to have umpired before. There will be a meeting for all
umpires ahead of racing where we explain everything and all new umpires are
paired with a 'senior' one during racing. However, we do ask that you have
rowed or coxed in *at least 2 sets of bumps before* so that you understand
how the races work.

Please remember that you can both compete and umpire. We suggest you leave
2 divisions clear before your race and 1 after to allow you to get to and
from the boathouses. The division times are available here:

The Pre-Bumps meetings will take place in the Large Lecture Theatre, in The Divinity School at St. John?s College. These will be on Saturday 4th June as requested by the Captains. The timings for these are as follows:

18:00 - 18:30 Senior Coxes
18:30 - 19:00 Novice Coxes (first set of bumps)

A reminder to captains to ensure that all coxes attend the relevant meeting. This is a requirement for participation in bumps.

Just a reminder that all programme pre-orders must be received by 5pm
today. We won't have many spares at the Captains' meeting, so if you don't
order, you're unlikely to get any before Bumps itself.

Notes from the Umpires:
Bank Parties are strictly limited to 4
Crews are expected to row continuously down to the start when there are no practice starts. Crews should not sit stationary for extended periods of time waiting for "a gap? to open and then row off winding it up immediately. The same goes at the Railway Bridge; a small queue is not an excuse to do an illegal start - you will only make the queue worse!
Coxes are reminded that they are responsible for observing crews ahead, including looking out for obstructions, and that they must not row into stationary boats at race pace. Coxes failing to conduct their crews in a safe manner may be removed from Bumps for the remainder of the week for particularly serious infractions

Remember: Everything is 2 hours earlier

Notes from the Umpires:
A blue inhaler was handed in at control.
Bank parties are strictly limited to 4.
Paddle back safely after racing - no unsafe crew swapping (coxes or rowers).
Bank parties must not get in the way of umpires and must let umpires pass then if they need to do so. 
Watch where you are going on the towpath. It will be busy on Saturday. There will be a lot of spectators and it is s public right of way. 
Coxes should be aware of what is happening around them, seeing where crews are bumping out ahead and taking a look behind before clearing to see which way racing crews are going. 
Clear the river immediately after bumping. Do not celebrate until you are safely pulled in. 
Take all your litter with you. Empty water bottles will not slow the boat down. 
Everything is two hours earlier on the last day!

A quite substantial set of keys which include a key/fob for a Volvo were found by Station 12 at the start of the Bumps course today.

Dear all

First of all, my apologies for the delay in sending this out.

On behalf of the CUCBC Committees and the Chief and Deputy Chief Umpires, I would like to thank you all for a great weeks racing and extend my congratulations to Lady Margaret for winning the Men?s Headship and to Downing for retaining the Women?s Headship.

The results of the Mitchell and Pegasus Cups will be announced shortly.

Please find below the list of fines from Saturday?s racing. There are a number of clubs vying for top position of the naughty list this year it seems!

Due to the lateness of us sending these out, I will allow 7 days from today for appeals of Saturday?s fines to be lodged in case any of you are away and don?t get this e-mail immediately.

Dear all

On behalf of the CUCBC committees, it is my great pleasure to announce that the 2015-16 Michell Cup, awarded for the best overall performance on the river during the academic year was awarded to Hughes Hall/Lucy Cavendish.

The 2016 Pegasus Cup, awarded to the best performing club in the May Bumps, was awarded to Corpus Christi.
