We are hoping that the stall will help generate additional interest in the club, the boat race and college rowing. Ideally, we would like to direct any freshers interested in taking up the sport towards their college boat club. It would be great if you could provide the contact details (name and email address) of the relevant person looking after novices within your boat club. We can then pass these details onto any interested students that stop by our stall during the fair. We hope that our presence at the fair will help raise additional interest in our sport and help to encourage more students to get involved with rowing at a college level. If you are interested in applying for a position please get in contact with me and we can arrange a quick chat about the various roles and responsibilities. This is an excellent way to get involved with event and race organisation and have a hand in shaping this year's races. While there are specific roles such as treasurer and events secretary, in general most jobs and responsibilities are split between so no one person has too much to do. We'd love to hear from any interested persons with experience of college rowing and a desire to get more involved. Please find below a brief list of some of the roles we are looking to fill and please do not hesitate to get in contact if you want to find out more. Honorary Secretary - Runs day to day business of the CUCBC and is prime point of contact for interactions with the college captains. Junior Treasurer - Handles race entries and prepares college bills every term Coxing Representative - Is main point of contact for coxing enquiries and runs the presentations for new coxes in Michaelmas and bumps coxing briefings. Events Secretary - Role open for multiple people to help with the running and organisation of the key events throughout the year. We look forward to hearing from you. The same will be true for all CUCBC events - the Lent and May Bumps, and the SBR. Your outstanding account balance AND entry fees MUST be paid by the entry deadline. We are still awaiting payment from a number of clubs. Those clubs who have not settled their accounts by this Friday, 24th October, will have their University Fours entries WITHDRAWN. You may either pay by cheque, made payable to Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs and sent to Tom Grimble at Robinson College, or by bank transfer to the account details shown on your bill. Whenever you make a payment by bank transfer, please send an e-mail to seniortreasurer at cucbc.org confirming the payment, so we may offset it against your account. Payments not accompanied by an e-mail will be considered as generous donations to the CUCBC as it is often difficult to track from the bank statements alone what each payment is for. Those who have already made bank transfers - thank you. I am currently working down the list and will send confirmation that we have received the payment in due course. If your bill shows a negative balance, your account is in credit and you may subtract this from the entry fees you owe (otherwise the credit will keep rolling forward to your next bill, though some clubs may find this useful in offsetting fines they tend to accrue). Good luck with the term?s training, Unviersity Fours, Fours Head, Fairbairns and any other event you may be entering! This is particularly important now that the clocks have gone back and a lot of outings are starting at ~0620. Control needs to start on arrival at the boathouse - this includes chatting by the water (coaches included need to keep their voices down), putting the boat on the water quietly, not shouting down from a window in the boathouse etc. Once on the water, cox-boxes need to be kept to a minimum volume and commands should be limited to those that are essential (even at the expense of potential coaching points). This state must be maintained until the Railway Bridge or until 0730, whichever is reached sooner. Be aware that passing above the Railway Bridge (moving upstream) before 0730 means that quiet-running is again necessary. Please pass this on to boatmen and coaches, even mid-outing, particularly if coaching is happening over/through/near a moored boat (which it shouldn't be under any circumstances before 0730). This email was prompted by my observations of multiple crews and coaches making a lot of unnecessary noise by the P&E at ~0625 over the last few days, and in previous weeks by the boathouses. Mat. *CUCBC* (Captains please pass this on to your clubs, coaches, boatmen, and so on). -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
