With lighting down getting very early now it is important that all crews are considerate to other river users. Please remember that the following rules apply in the mornings. *All crews must keep noise to a minimum EVERYWHERE on the river in the early mornings.* This means that screaming race pieces past the residential boats and houses along Plough Reach and the Gut is not acceptable. Coaching from the bank upstream of the railway bridge is not permitted at all before 7:30am. However this does not mean that once you are downstream of this point that you can start shouting and screaming without a care for residents along the river. We will be levying penalties against any club identified as making excessive noise. This is to ensure you are visible to other crews. Visibility is predicted to be bad tomorrow morning as well so please take heed of this and make sure you attach bright lights if you are intending to have an outing tomorrow. Just because the flag is green does not mean it is appropriate for a given crew to boat, you have to make that assessment yourselves. It is the responsibility of your cox and coach to decide if your crew is capable of handling the conditions. Saturday will consist of a Head to Head race, similar to the one held in Jan but hopefully with less adverse conditions (but offering no guarantees). Sunday will see a series of side by side 500m sprints in front of the boathouses, a great way to check your progress against the competition ahead of the May bumps. Entries will open for the events next week, but as this term is concluding, I will accept entries from the colleges until Wed 30th April, just email me directly if the web form is no longer active. I would be grateful if you could pass this notice on to your club members. I hope you enjoy your spring break and good luck to the crews racing on the tideway tomorrow and on the 29th March. And of course to the Light Blue crews, we will be cheering for you!
