[CUCBC Captains] Events on the River Cam this weekend: Cam Marathon, Sunday 24th March 2013

Dear river users,

 

Cambridge Canoe Club will be hosting the annual Cam Canoe Marathon on the
River Cam this Sunday, 24th March 2013. 

 

The races will start at 11.00am from the Cambridge Canoe Club clubhouse on
Sheep's Green, Newnham. Participants will race down the College Backs
between 11.05 and 11.45am and proceed onto the lower river, returning up the
Backs between 12 15am and 1.00pm. Racing will also take place on the upper
river between Sheep's Green and Grantchester.

 

There will be marker buoys in the river for competitors to use as turning
points at Chesterton and immediately upstream of Baits Bite Lock. These will
be in place by 10am and they will be removed after the last competitor has
left the course. Temporary marker buoys will also be deployed on the upper
river.

 

We should be grateful if all navigators could keep the river channel clear
for competitors during this national event. The organisers would also be
most grateful for your cooperation.
