form must cover the whole club (both genders), and that the deadline is

Theatre on Sunday 9th June.

There will be 2 meetings:

18:00 - Senior Coxes who have coxed bumps before
18:30 - Novice Coxes who have NOT coxed bumps before

All coxes who are competing during bumps are required to attend. A register
will be taken and those who fail to turn up may be fined.

If you are unable to make either of the meetings please ensure that you
send a suitable representative for your crew who can report back any
important information.

Just want to bring your attention to the fact the following rule is now in
force:

*"That during the ten days preceding the Lent and May Bumps and the week
preceding the University Fours Races, no boat may spin between the Little
Bridge and Peters Posts except at its own risk."*

Please try to work your outing plans around this from now until bumps. The
reason for this is to reduce the risk of collisions between the large
number of crews doing full course pieces and any pileup of crews waiting to
spin at Ditton.

This should also make it easier for everyone to practice racing the full
bumps course so following it is in everyone's best interest!

Due to a very large number of scratches, the men's GoR no longer has
competition for places in the start order, and is therefore cancelled. The
4 remaining crews have been randomly assigned a position in the start order
as follows:

   - Clare VI
   - St Catharine's IV
   - Hughes Hall III
   - Churchill III

The women's race is still scheduled to go ahead tomorrow with 11 crews
competing for 9 places.

Because of the significantly reduced size of the race, marshalling for the
race will now be at Baitsbite. Crews should be in position at the lock
pulled in on towpath side by 15:55 to race at 16:00.

Pembroke would like to send a composite crew to take part in the Prince 
Albert Cup at Henley. We are looking for a Stroke side rower who has rowed 
at college M1 level and a cox.

Friday 28th June - Qualifying race
Wednesday 3rd July - 1st rounds

Good day all
 
It looks like being a cracking week for the 'bumps'. Forecast is dry and sunny.

You will be pleased to note that I have deliberately not booked any private cruises and suspended our public trips from 10-15th June.  Thus Rosie will not be cruising along the river at any time during that period.  That covers the Boathouse/Jesus Lock section all te way downstream to past the Plough and Baits Bite Lock.  This replicates the non-operating process we did for the February 'bumps'.
 
To date I have worked extremely hard to ensure our operation does not conflict with race events and minimised our impact on practices by giving crew/cox's clear 'come by' signals, when we can see ahead, whenever possible.
 
Earlier in the year we set up an internal booking diary based on the information published on the Cam Conservators website list of events.  This has proved to be extremely useful.  However, there have been times when the published information is either inaccurate or plans changed.  This has led on a few occasions when private charters that we confidently planned specifically to avoid race events becoming an overlap.
 
Please can I respectfully request your events co-ordinators to:

 


Drop me a line a week or so before your event as a reminder (as I believe you do for 'Georgina')  and give me an indication of the division times/sizes. 

If you publish events information then update then in any way during the year, please ask your events co-ordinator to inform us at the time they amend the listing so that our booking diary truely reflects your river event.
 
If at anytime you do have an issue with our operation or suggetions for imporvements in communication, please contact us directly to resolve.


I assure you of my best intentions at all times to ensure a safe river environment without impeding an approved river event.

sure more programmes are available and so that we don't run out at the end

This year Bumps programmes are available on the towpath at Control Desk and
at the Plough pub in Fen Ditton.

We are no longer stocking them in college porters lodges as this system has
been replaced by pre-orders through your the college captains.

Due to a scratch the start order for the women's races has been changed.

Crews in divisions W4 from station 7 down and W5 have been shifted up 1
place.

Please check again for your starting positions and make sure you're in the

ARU have just informed me they wish to scratch both their men's and women's
crews so every crew below them in the start order will move up 1 place so
we have no gaps in the races.

Men: everyone below Div 3 station 1
Women: everyone below Div 2 station 15

I am currently processing the start order changes so they are not yet live,
but wanted to email this out asap as it affects a lot of people especially
if you are on a division boundary.

Thanks to all crews for a good start to the week. We had a number of
re-rows but managed to get back on time at the end with your help.

CUCBC website.

*Notes from the Umpires*

   - After a number of dangerous incidents today, please be aware that any
   crew that rows into a stationary boat will be disqualified from racing for
   the rest of the week. This is incredibly dangerous and could easily lead to
   someone getting seriously hurt.
   - When you bump out, you must clear the river as quickly as possible. Do
   not celebrate before clearing and get straight into the bank as the rest of
   the division will be coming up at speed behind you!
   - Bank parties are strictly limited to 4 cyclists. This includes the
   boatman, coaches and any VIPs. Excessive bank parties are extremely
   dangerous, can obstruct the umpires and will therefore be heavily penalised.
   - The bank party limit also includes runners or other people who join
   your crew later on down the course. Please tell all your college members
   that unless they are part of the allotted bank party they are not allowed
   to follow a crew.
   - Also be aware that the towpath is used by people commuting in the
   evenings and all cyclists should be careful of members of the public and
   not obstruct other cyclists or pedestrians.
