Could you forward the following to your Women's and Coxes' lists please? Many thanks, Helena Schofield Cambridge University Women's Boat Club is recruiting triallists for the 2012-13 season. The club had a successful season in 2012, taking victory in the Newton Women's Openweight Boat Race, along with success in national level competitions such as 9th place at WEHORR and gold medals at BUCS. We are also excited to welcome a new head coach, Rob Baker, and continued sponsorship from Newton Investment Management. We are looking to build on this success this season, in the run up to the Women's Boat Race moving to the Tideway in 2015. Trialling with CUWBC is demanding and requires a great deal of commitment, but you don't need to be an international athlete or cox, or even necessarily in your college first boat - we're after potential, not ready made heroes. If you think you have what it takes, please drop an email to: * president at cuwbc.org* with any questions and with your details. Trialling begins with a meeting at *16:00, Sunday 23rd September* at *Goldie Boathouse *- please come along if you are interested. There are 3 open positions, which are open to *any* member of the College boat clubs. If you have enjoyed College rowing and competing, getting involved with CUCBC is a brilliant way of helping make it a great success in Cambridge. The bumps and many of the other races throughout the year could not run without the enthusiasm and organisation behind the scenes. While there are a number of defined job positions, the major responsibilities throughout the year (umpiring and organising the major races) are shared between committee members, so you won't be swamped by a massive job on your own! If you would like to run for any of the positions listed below, please get in touch and briefly outline your experience and what you could bring to the role. Also if you would like to know more about any of the jobs, please do contact us. Junior Treasurer This position will be co-opted by the current Executive Committee. The junior treasurer takes responsibility for the day-to-day running of CUCBC's finances, including drawing up and distributing bills to the College Boat Clubs and preparing the budget with the Senior Treasurer. Events Secretary This position (1 or 2 persons, as deemed appropriate) will be co-opted by the current Executive Committee. The events secretary helps with the organisation and running of CUCBC races. While overall responsibility for the CUCBC events will be divided between committee members (so you will not have to do everything!), the events secretary helps out with arranging umpires and organising and distributing umpiring kit. You will also liase with the producers of the Bumps programmes and arrange the presentations and upkeep of the University medals and trophies. A fun job if you want to get involved with running races on the Cam! Coxes' Representative The coxes' rep aids the development of coxes within the College boat clubs, including arranging the novice coxes' meeting in Michaelmas term, as well as giving the pre-Bumps coxes' briefings and any other ideas you may have! We look forward to hearing from you! Tom Grimble CUCBC Honorary Secretary -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... In accordance with Rule 34, the College clubs are required to provide marshals to enforce the early morning noise and traffic restrictions. Marshals should arrive at their station promptly at lighting down and remain in position until 08:30. All of the equipment (bibs, clipboards, record sheets) can be found on top of the pigeon holes at the back of Goldie boathouse. Marshals should read the instructions on the website before arriving for duty - www.cucbc.org/marshals/instructions. Please check the rota very carefully for your club's slots. Clubs will be fined for failing to provide competent marshals. If you have any queries about marshaling, or if marshals experience problems while on duty (lost equipment or unforeseen circumstances), please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Committee - committee at cucbc.org Many thanks Tom Grimble CUCBC Honorary Secretary -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
