Christ's is going to Aiguebelette lake in France this coming week, but unfortunately we have found ourselves 1 cox short. We were wondering if any coxes (or if anyone knows of any coxes who) would be interested in coming on the camp with us. We are taking two Men's VIIIs, two Women's VIIIs and some top coaches including a cox coach - it is lining up to be a pretty awesome week with plenty of social time as well as rowing time. We are leaving on 5th January (Wednesday) and returning on 12th January (Wednesday). All travel, accommodation and food is included. We're all quite nice people really :) If anyone is interested (or knows of anyone who would be interested) or if you would like more information please contact me by email or by calling me on 07921668956. No official times to be taken. You have agreed that we should use the same system as last year for selecting our two crews - namely inviting from the top of the First Lent Divisions downwards. (Both Cambridge College crews won lost year). First, I need to know if any Club in the First Division (both M &W) definitely would NOT wish to race on that day, if invited. This precaution will save delay in confirming our two crews (not least the Race Programme has to be printed), especially as time is quite short between the end of the Lent Bumps on 5th March and the races on 27th March. I will send out the INVITATION TO RACE immediately after the Lent Bumps are over and the results are known. (It might be prudent if we have have a reserve crew up our sleeve, just in case, but NOT with a view to having a Reserves race). These two College races are to be listed first in the Order of Racing but the Umpire reserves the right to alter this if racing conditions deteriorate to the point where the Umpire decides to bring on the Blue Boat races first, as happened recently. You will need an Environment Agency Day Licence for the River Thames. So, if you cannot race on 27th March or do not wish to be invited to race, PLEASE LET ME KNOW NOW. Many thanks. I would like to invite any of your VIIIs, including alumni VIIIs, to enter. The Regatta is the ideal opportunity for your crews to compete in side-by-side racing on the Cam, and also great preparation in the run-up to Lent Bumps. The format of the Regatta will be largely similar to previous years, but there will be some modifications. Specifically, all races will be timed, and prizes will be awarded to runner-up crews as well as winning crews in each division (pending entry numbers). Also, the way in which races are scheduled will be modified - for those who are interested details are given below, and feedback will be appreciated. Entry forms have been posted to colleges, but forms may also be downloaded and returned by email. All details are given on the Regatta page of our website (http://pembrokecollegeboatclub.com/v3/?page_id=8), and please contact me if you have further questions. Kind regards, Alisdair Alisdair McClymont Regatta Secretary 2010-11 Pembroke College Boat Club Mob: 07887 488759 >>> Scheduling of Races: Several solutions have been considered (including the possibility of running races in both directions). The following method of scheduling races is proposed - note that races are run from the end of the Reach to Peter's Posts: Crews are required to be below Chesterton 30-40 mins before the start of their race, and be marshalled at the Railway Bridge 25-35 mins before the start of their race. Following their first race, winning crews will pull in at Chesterton, spin and return to the Railway Bridge to marshal for their second race. After their second or third race, winning crews will return to their boathouse for an extended break. They will have progressed to the semi-final round of their division. The semi-final and final rounds will be held towards the end of the day. The exception is the M1 division where the first rounds are held latest in the day. The first races will be held after 1:00pm, and all racing will be complete before 5:00pm. It will be ensured that in every race, both racing crews will have had the same (or an extended) period of recovery since their previous race. The only exception is where a division receives an odd number of entries, in which case it is necessary to give one crew a bye. Feedback is appreciated, either by email or on the Pembroke Regatta 2011 thread on rowing.ucam.org From robinson.men at cucbc.org Fri Jan 28 21:50:13 2011 From: robinson.men at cucbc.org (Robinson Men) Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2011 21:50:13 +0000 Subject: [CUCBC Captains] Robinson Head Entry Now Open Message-ID: Dear Captains of the Cambridge College Boat Clubs, Robinson Head is almost upon us! I apologise if division times are slightly different to what you may have been told, but we had to add an extra division due to the fantastic number entries. Late entries will be accepted until midnight on Wednesday, but will incur a ?5 fine per boat. If there are any problems or queries, please get these to me by the same deadline. Unless due to fault of our own, we will not make further changes after the final draw is published on Thursday. If any club would like to request a row-through, please let me know by 5pm on Wednesday. If you specify a preference for the divisions between which you would like to row-through, then I will do my best to accommodate your requests. Please be aware however that we will only be allowing a maximum of 3 boats to row through between each division, so in the case of excess demand allowances will have to be made. Places will therefore be allocated on a first come first served basis. Best of luck to all crews for Saturday.
