Dear Captain,

As you are no doubt aware, Clare Novices Regatta will be taking place on
the 27th, 28th and 29th November (Thursday - Saturday). The river will
therefore be *closed to college crews during the regatta* (1400 - lighting
up on Thursday and Friday, and all day Saturday). We realise that this is
disruptive for senior crews wanting to train for Fairbairns, so to reduce
this disruption, we will be allowing a limited number of senior crews to
row through the regatta. If you wish to organise to row throughs for your
club, please contact the Regatta Secretary directly stating:
    => Your club,
=> Which boats row-throughs are required for,
=> What time you wish to row through. (Division times are quoted on
the Clare Boat Club website (www.clareboatclub.org.uk/cnr). Crews rowing
through will be placed at the head of divisions rowing downstream and
should be at the Penny Ferry by *10 minutes after the stated marshaling
time* for competitors.)

Please note the following information:
=> A *maximum of two boats* will be allowed to row through per
division, allocated on a first come, first served basis.
=> It is expected that crews rowing through will be going over
Baitsbite Lock, since the regatta extends from Chesterton Footbridge to
Grassy Corner. In line with CUCBC rules, crews rowing through must be
"university crews, first boats, and any other boats in the top two
divisions of the CUCBC May Bumps only".
=> Any college boat that has not requested to row through will be
asked to turn around.
=> The division times stated on the Clare Boat Club website will
change slightly once all entries are received. Boats who have been
granted permission to row through will be kept informed of any changes.
=> Any boat rowing through the regatta must adhere to any
instructions from Regatta officials. You may be required to wait for a
short period of time, although we will always try to minimise this.
=> If you are late, your time slot is not transferrable and you
will be asked to turn around.
=> You may return from the lock at any time, but should make
yourself known to marshals in Plough reach.
=> Under no circumstances should you row between Ditton Corner and
the Penny Ferry in either direction without the permission of an official.
=> All requests for row throughs must be received at least 3 days in
advance.

Thank you for your cooperation and good luck to any crews you may have
racing in the Regatta.

Philip Bateman
