Dear all

please be aware that I will be away from Cambridge with limited e-mail access from tomorrow afternoon (Sat) until next Sunday morning. If there are any messages you would normally send to me that you want to be sure have been seen and dealt with in my absence, please ensure you also send or copy them to the committee or to Ian Thompson in this period.

There are starting to be questions raised about the adoption of the 'two boat' early morning restrictions. For information, certainly until a couple of days ago (latest sheets not analysed), the maximum number of boats out on any morning so far has been 55, ie less than the c. 64 that the 'restriction' would permit. There also appear to have been only 4 or 5 clubs commonly putting out more than two boats on a morning.

I'm pleased (and a bit surprised) we've got this far into term without bringing in restrictions. We will keep the numbers of boats and congestion experienced under review, and will also not bring in the restrictions based on the experience of a single 'bad' morning. It will help delay this if you can try and plan crews to spread their outings in the time available (ie not all dash for home at the same time at 0830), though I appreciate this is not entirely under your control and will become more difficult as lighting down gets later.

Thanks
Pete
